Possible Side Effects of Flexeril: Side effects generally cannot be anticipated with Flexeril. If any side effects develop or alter in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Less common or rare side effects may include:

Flexeril Precautions and Warnings: The effects of Flexeril during pregnancy have not been adequately studied. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. It is not known if Flexeril appears in breast milk. However, Flexeril is related to tricyclic antidepressants, and some of those drugs do appear in breast milk. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding your baby until your treatment is finished.

Medications That Affect Flexeril: Flexeril is chemically related to the tricyclic class of antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline, Elavil; nortriptyline, Pamelor). As such, it should not be taken with or within two weeks of any monoamine oxidase inhibitor, for example, isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), tranylcypromine (Parnate), and procarbazine (Matulane). High fever, convulsions and even death can occur when these drugs are used together. Additionally, Flexeril interacts with other medications and drugs that slow the brain's processes, such as alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazepines (e.g. lorazepam, Ativan), and narcotics.

Missed Flexeril Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

Storing Flexeril: Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from heat and direct light. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down. Do not keep outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medicine is out of the reach of children.
